The organising committee's FAQ says tickets "are not available yet" and points you to its e-news sign-up. The IOC says each host's organising committee runs its own ticket sales. What we do have is a statement of intent from Brisbane 2032 president Andrew Liveris in April 2025, and two recent Games that show how it usually works. Everything below is labelled as one or the other.

The short version
  • Official: tickets aren't available, and Brisbane 2032 sells them, not the IOC.
  • Intent only: Liveris has talked about ballots or lotteries, $30 to $50 tickets, and a guaranteed share of ceremony tickets for Brisbane residents.
  • Precedent: Paris 2024 and LA28 both used a free registration and a random draw before sales opened.

Are Brisbane 2032 tickets on sale?

No. The Brisbane 2032 FAQ on olympics.com says tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic Games "are not available yet" and suggests subscribing to its e-news to hear first. Because sales haven't opened, nobody can sell you a genuine Brisbane 2032 ticket today.

Who will sell the tickets?

The Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee. The IOC's own FAQ says ticket sales are the responsibility of each Games' organising committee, and that Brisbane 2032 ticket information "will become available in due time" on its official website. No ticketing partner or platform has been named.

Will there be a ballot, and do locals get priority?

Nothing is official. In April 2025 Liveris told the ABC that tickets had to be available to Brisbane residents, with ballots or lotteries to decide who gets them. The ABC reported it was his "goal" to guarantee residents a share of opening and closing ceremony tickets. His words: "Certainly, we would work on that." He also said very expensive premium tickets would help pay for cheaper ones.

Those are a president's intentions, not published rules. No resident definition, ballot date or allocation has been released.

How did LA28 sell its tickets?

Precedent, not a Brisbane plan. LA28 opened free registration on 14 January 2026 and closed it on 18 March. Registering put you in a draw for a random time slot to buy. Residents of eight Los Angeles and Oklahoma City area counties got a locals presale from 2 to 6 April 2026, before the first public drop from 9 April. Tickets started at US$28. LA28 now says first-come, first-served Olympic sales will start in 2027, alongside its first Paralympic ticket drop.

How did Paris 2024 do it?

Also precedent. Registration ran from 1 December 2022 to 31 January 2023, for a draw. Winners got a 48-hour slot between 15 February and 15 March 2023 to buy "Make Your Games" packs of three sessions. Paris said nearly 10 million Olympic tickets would be available, from €24, with a cap of 30 per account across all phases.

How will Paralympic tickets work?

Not announced for Brisbane. At LA28, Paralympic tickets are sold separately and go on sale in 2027, the year after LA28's first Olympic drop. Brisbane hasn't said whether it will do the same.
