The Gold Coast venues are a 65 to 86 minute train from Central, plus a tram or bus. The Sunshine Coast has no train to its stadium, so it's train then bus.

Those are today's timetables, from Translink's own data. No Games-time timetable, shuttle or spectator transport plan has been published. And nobody has said whether a 2032 event ticket will include public transport. Right now every Translink trip is a flat 50 cents.

How long is the train from Brisbane to the Gold Coast?

How do you get to Southport and Broadbeach?

Take the G:link tram from Helensvale. It's 25 minutes to Broadwater Parklands station, next to the proposed triathlon and marathon swimming site, and 42 minutes to Broadbeach North, about a 6 minute walk from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Add those to the 72-minute train and you're looking at about an hour and three quarters from Central to Broadbeach, before any wait to change.

For the Gold Coast Hockey Centre at Labrador, check the Translink journey planner for the best connection.

How do you get to the Sunshine Coast venues?

Train, then bus. There's no rail line to Kawana yet. From Central, trains reach Landsborough in about 81 minutes and Nambour in about 109, running about every 45 minutes on weekdays.

  • Sunshine Coast Stadium, Kawana (football): from Landsborough take bus 605 to Caloundra (about 30 minutes, roughly hourly), then bus 600 or 602 to the stadium (about 20 minutes). Or from Nambour, bus 610 or 612 to Maroochydore (about 35 minutes), then 600 or 611 (about 26 minutes).
  • Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre: no bus stop close by. Games transport hasn't been announced.

The Wave, the planned rail line from Beerwah to Birtinya, isn't built. Transport and Main Roads says major construction is expected to start in early 2027, subject to federal environmental approval. It gives no opening date.

Will a 2032 ticket include public transport?

Not announced. Brisbane 2032, the Queensland Government and Translink haven't said. The 2032 Delivery Plan only says the state wants "reliable, sustainable and inclusive" transport for spectators.

Two precedents, labelled as that. Queensland has made public transport free for ticket holders at some big events, like the Saturday matches at the Gabba and Suncorp Stadium in September 2023, excluding council ferries and Airtrain. Paris 2024 went the other way: the region's transport authority sold a separate "Paris 2024" pass at €16 a day.
